Tuning Ducati 848 models
Peformance datas of a 848, complete standard, after 5488 Km.
For the Ducati 848 models we will offer a Big Bore kit with 1038cc. Original piston/cylinder diameter is 94mm, then its 104mm! Piston production becomes congruently with the 1098 pistons, but naturally with the necessary changes, suitably for the 848 models. Here we fall back to two years experience, so that we can save time-consuming test runs.
For the piston head construction a shrink-free casting from silicone from the dental laboratory is used. Here to see as a green model, which is stored afterwards as a digital 3 D file.
With the cylinders the same; they are derived directly from the 1098 models. A further advantage is that the headgasket from the 1098 models can be used. It will be a so called Bolt On Kit which can be mounted without any further modifications on the crank housing.
The achievement grows by the capacity extension theoretically by 22%. On the basis of an output of 136 HP a rise to 165,92 HP! Theoretically! In practice that will not be the case. 158-160 HP with an appropriate set up are realistic. Those are still 10 HP more than a 999R, and with a dry weight of 168 kg!
The treatment of the cylinder heads will be more complex. The intake valves grow by 1,5mm and the exhaust valves by 1mm. For more performance the diameter of the throttle body can be increased and special camshafts can be used.
